Celta Vigo : the history
Real Club Celta de Vigo, commonly known as Celta Vigo or simply Celta, is one of the most prestigious football clubs in Galicia and one of the historic institutions of Spanish football. Founded in 1923 in the city of Vigo, the club serves as one of the most important sporting symbols of the Galician region. Its traditional sky blue and white colours, inspired by the Galician flag, have made the team instantly recognizable throughout Spain and beyond.
The club was created through the merger of two major local teams with the goal of establishing a representative side capable of competing at the highest national level.
