Alghero Alghero : the history

Alghero Calcio, commonly known as Alghero, is one of the most representative football clubs in northwestern Sardinia. Based in the city of Alghero, one of the island's most historic and distinctive locations, the club has served for decades as an important sporting institution for the local community, contributing significantly to the development of football in Sardinia.

The club's history dates back to the twentieth century and is closely connected with the identity of the city itself. Throughout the years, Alghero experienced various stages of development, organizational changes, and restructuring while always preserving its strong local character and footballing tradition.

For much of its existence, the club competed in regional and interregional competitions, becoming a familiar presence in Sardinian football. Supported by passionate fans and dedicated local leadership, Alghero established a respected reputation throughout the island and regularly faced some of the strongest amateur clubs in the region.

The most important period in the club's history came during the 2000s, when Alghero reached Serie D, the highest level of amateur football in Italy. This achievement generated great enthusiasm within the city and allowed the club to compete against teams from across the country while gaining wider national recognition.

During those years, the club built competitive squads and achieved notable results, becoming one of the most followed teams in Sardinia. Alghero proudly represented its territory in interregional competitions and played an important role in promoting football throughout the island.

Throughout its history, the club has provided opportunities for many young Sardinian footballers to develop their skills and showcase their talent. The promotion of local players has always been one of the defining characteristics of the organization and remains an important part of its legacy.

Home matches are played at the historic Stadio Mariotti, the traditional home of football in the city. Located close to the center of Alghero, the stadium has long been the gathering place for supporters and a symbol of local sporting passion.

The club's strongest rivalries have traditionally been with other teams from northern Sardinia. Matches against clubs from the Sassari area and surrounding regions have often attracted significant interest and have contributed to the unique atmosphere of Sardinian football.

Like many historic amateur clubs in Italy, Alghero has faced financial and organizational challenges over the years. Despite these difficulties, the club has continued to represent an important symbol for the city and has preserved a sporting tradition built over many decades.

Thanks to its deep connection with the local community, its long footballing history, and its contribution to the development of football in Sardinia, Alghero holds an important place in the island's sporting heritage and remains one of the most respected football institutions in northern Sardinia.

Printing Errors in Stickers and Trading Cards: When a Flaw Can Make All the Difference

Printing Errors in Stickers and Trading Cards: When a Flaw Can Make All the Difference

06/07/2026

In the world of sticker and sports trading card collecting, printing errors are among the most fascinating aspects of the hobby. However, it's important to dispel a common myth: not every rare sticker owes its value to a production mistake. In many cases, rarity is the result of limited print runs, uneven distribution, or specific production circumstances. Over the years, publishers?Panini above all?have had to correct numerous mistakes before or during the distribution of their collections. The most common examples include:

From Homeless to Millionaire Thanks to a Trading Card: The Incredible Story of Damian Olivera-Bergallo

06/07/2026

The world of sports card collecting is full of remarkable stories, but few are as extraordinary as that of Damian Olivera-Bergallo. After emigrating to the United States and facing extreme financial hardship, he managed to build a fortune through football trading cards—especially those featuring Lionel Messi. While living in his car and working odd jobs as a dishwasher and Uber driver, Damian came across a bag containing a collection of vintage football trading cards. He decided to spend his last €200 to buy it, unaware that the purchase would completely change his life.

16/04/2026

My name is Davide Cranchi, and throughout my life I have always believed in one very simple principle: that true projects are not created merely to occupy a space, but to leave a mark. I am an Italian entrepreneur living in Taiwan, but before that, I am a person who loves to build bridges where others see only distance. Bridges between cultures, between people, between worlds that may appear far apart, yet which, once they find the right language, discover that they are able to move in the same direction. Over the course of my journey, I have brought to life different ventures, all united by the same vision: to create value, create connections, and create the future. On one side

NEW INTERVIEW : GOAL GRAIL GALLERY

28/04/2025

My nickname is @goalgrailgallery on Instagram. I'm an Italian living abroad, deeply passionate about football. My collecting goal is to act like an archaeologist, unearthing early and rare cards of the greatest football players throughout history. I have also published my personal list of the key players of each decade, from the 1950s onward, and I try to collect all these greats. I started collecting many years ago. My love affair with football began in 1994, when I watched my first match ? it was love at first sight. Since then, I have spent 30 years following football: watching, writing about it, and, recently, collecting memorabilia. In the 1990s, I built a solid collection of Panini Calciatori albums with my father; we even ordered some earlier editions together. My collecting journey kicked off around 1994?95, then it restarted a couple of years ago.

INTERVIEW : GIANNI BELLINI

INTERVIEW : GIANNI BELLINI

01/04/2025
