O HOBBY EM PORTUGUES! - INTERVIEW
1.INTRODUCE YOURSELF
Hi, my name is André, and I'm known online as OHobbyEmPortugues! I'm present on both Tiktok (the portuguese version of my project) and on Instagram (the english version) and I sell my cards on eBay. My project is based on showcasing what Portugal has best - either is stickers or cards, and slowly becoming the go to guy when someone wants to buy stickers/cards from the portuguese league, whether they are common or rare.I see myself as an investor and I invest in rare stuff - numbered cards, vintage or sealed product. I also write blogs for https://soccerstickersfc.net/ where I tend to explain my hobby experience or where I just rant about random stuff.
2. WHEN DID YOU START COLLECTING AND HOW/WHY?
I started collecting in 2006 with the 2006 World Cup album. I don't know why or how I got my hands on that album, but I remember buying packs from the local kiosk. In the end I did not manage to complete the album. My album is badly damaged, which shows how much I loved it as a kid. Then the love for collecting went way until 2019, when I started to look back at collecting itself, by seeing baseball breaks, and in 2020 I started my page and ebay and the love was back on track! I've since be collecting Benfica cards, since it's the team I support - but I only collect numbered cards (#'d 50 or less - especially if they are gold).
3. WHAT ARE YOUR MOST VALUABLE ITEMS ? NAME ONE WITH SENTIMENTAL VALUE AND ONE WITH MONEY VALUE.
My most valuable item has to be the POP 1 PSA 10 Rookie Sticker (action) of Pepe from 2003-04 Panini Futebol Portuguese League stickers. I think you won't be finding another sticker like that any time soon!. I also have one of the biggest Neemias Queta Rookie cards with 43 different rookie card autos of the first (and only) Portuguese NBA collection and loads of numbered (low numbered) cards of his. I think it's also one of the biggest collections in the world (surely top 5 in Portugal). Those are ones I have a a lot of sentimental value, since I always thought he'd be NBA champion, and sure did last year!
4. HOW MUCH DO YOU SPEND IN STICKERS/CARDS WEEKLY/MONTHLY/YEARLY ?
It depends how it's going to be spent, but I'd say 150? per month. I count my investment as spending. The PC is the one I spent the least, because I tend to buy stuff for the cheapest price possible, since I collect mostly singles. If my price is not there I just don't buy it - and I don't worry. I just know that I might get the card down the line.
5. WHICH TEAM DO YOU SUPPORT ?
Like I said above, I support Benfica! Since 2022 I've been starting to go to games on a regular basis.

7. HOW DO YOU SEE THE FUTURE OF THE "HOBBY" ?
Yes I do see myself having a future in the Hobby. I consider myself to be in the top 10 in Portugal, sales wise, so naturally I will try and grow this small thing that I have into bigger and better things. I also have one of the biggest hobby pages in Portugal. I love this and I'd love to grow this as a business. Most people I chat with say it's crazy, but If they knew all of my ideas, they wouldn't be calling me crazy.
I want to be the bridge for Portugal to the world! I think I will and can be doing so, and that's a goal of mine and I strive every day to achieve it.
8. DID YOU EVER TAKE PART IN ANY FOOTBALL STICKERS/CARDS FAIR ? IF YES, WHICH ONE ? DO YOU HAVE A FAIR YOU REALLY WANT TO GO TO ?
Yes, I did! In 2023 and in 2024 we had 3 shows in Portugal and I've managed to go to 2 of them - the Porto cardshow and Lisbon cardshow. I loved it and it shows how people do love what you do. I went there as a buyer, not a seller. Sadly there are no plans, right now, to do one in 2025.
I really want to go to more, with the end goal being to go to the National in the USA.
9. WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE BRAND (PANINI/TOPPS/UPPER DECK/ETC.) ? AND COLLECTION ?
Easily 2017-18 Topps Chrome! Nowadays, my favorite is Topps Finest. I just love the color on those cards!
10. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF STICKERSONE.COM ?
I think stickersone.com is a great database. The sheer amount of work done here is incredible. You can find pretty much every sticker you want and it's updated regularly.
Without it, you would not be able to track all the collections there are, worldwide.
