Kodro Magazine, the football history

As the years go by, we all tend to idealize the past in one way or another. It's something natural, necessary, and positive. After all, there's nothing wrong with being nostalgic; it's one of the most beautiful expressions of gratitude. For many, a passion for sports has been with us since a very young age, and like a precious gift, it was handed down to us by someone special. From this great love for football, the Kodro Magazine project was born a way to share the passion for the beautiful game. Whether you're a "Cruyffist," a "Maradonian," or simply have a preference for tactical, defensive, or offensive beauty, it doesn't matter. What matters is being true to yourself and carrying it through to the very end.

This coming April 2025 will mark seven years since the first activity on social media for this project aimed at preserving the historical memory of football. It all began with the first of many posts on Twitter/X, which later expanded to Facebook, Instagram, website, YouTube, and even a digital magazine. This one is distributed through Kodro Magazine's online store, the online newsstands PressReader, Pasalapágina, and KioscoyMas, and is also available to passengers on high-speed trains like OUIGO and AVE, as well as Brittany Ferries.

In its early days, the editors created all content in Catalan under the brand Kodro.cat. Gradually, they began incorporating collaborations and experimenting with different formats. By March 2020, they had reached 12,000 social media followers and 1,000 unique monthly website users. At that point, coinciding with the onset of the pandemic, they decided to radically change course by switching to publishing in Spanish under the name Kodro Magazine. They refined their content selection and welcomed collaborations from around the world, while bidding farewell to many former contributors and readers who did not embrace the language change.

Today, Kodro Magazine has become one of the most renowned football magazines on an international level, boasting over 500,000 loyal social media followers. It is the most-read football magazine in Spanish (Spain & Latin-American market), according to data audited by Similar Web. This is a remarkable achievement, especially considering that this "indie" project has never received a single cent of public funding, something that cannot be said of other competitors.
