INTERVIEW : BRONGOBALLING

1. INTRODUCE YOURSELF . (NAME,SURNAME,LOCATION,SOCIAL MEDIA ALIAS NAME/ALSO WORDS ABOUT YOUR PROJECT)

Hello. My name is Alex, I am from Hertfordshire in England. I go by Brongoballing on Instagram and Whatnot.
What I am doing is posting an Antoine Griezmann card every single day until I run out of cards to post. I have been going on for nearly 500 days now and I am hoping that I am able to get too 1000 days of posting Griezmann.



2. WHEN DID YOU START COLLECTING AND HOW/WHY?

I started collecting again in 2020/21 time where I was originally collecting Pokémon cards. I really did enjoy the collecting aspect of it but Pokemon was not the same for me after some time. I found out that premium sports cards (not just Match Attax) was out there.I knew I wanted to collect only one player and that was Griezmann himself. I entered myself into so many different breaks and looking into different singles streams/ebay listings.
I ended up buying a huge lot from someone on Instagram of Griezmann cards that cost £250 at the time. It included some graded cards, autographs, numbered, as well as some other bits. That is when I would say the collection really started growing.

3. WHAT ARE YOUR MOST VALUABLE ITEMS ? NAME ONE WITH SENTIMENTAL VALUE AND ONE WITH MONEY VALUE.

So my most valuable items in my collection is quite hard for me to know. I think it would be between two in terms of money value, those being my Griezmann Kaboom from 2017 Panini Select in a PSA 9. If not that, it would be my 1/1 Blue Finite Vitreous from 2023-24 Panini Obsidian. A big shoutout to a friend of mine same who brought the 1/1 for me and let me pay it back in instalments (because the original owner wanted quite a bit of money) so Sam brought me the card and said I can pay him back whenever I could, which I owe him a HUGGGGGE thank you!!
When it comes to sentimental value, there are 3 cards I can think of. Two of these cards I won't spoil just yet because they are still yet to be posted, with one of them being day 500 so keep an eye out ??. The one I can talk about is the Griezmann true roomie card. His offical rookie card is from 2009/10 Mundi Cromo. I can tell you this card was very hard to come across, but as soon as I found one I knew I had to have it. There are quite a few early Griezmann cards from his days at Sociedad that I owe, but the true rookie is definitely a top 5 card of his I own.

4. HOW MUCH DO YOU SPEND IN STICKERS/CARDS WEEKLY/MONTHLY/YEARLY ?

Oh wow you really are trying to out me here hahaha. I won't lie, I do enter myself into breaks and buy singles I'd say at least every month, but I am no where near as bad as I used to be. When a new set comes out that I want to collect, I do go for it early doors to try get in early, but I've stuck to buying singles for quite some time now instead.
When I was trying to have as many Griezmann cards as possible in my early days of collecting, I would buy anything I could get my hands on that I could afford. Now that I have quite a lot of the cards of Griezmann, I no longer need to buy everything I see because I normally have most of the stuff I see ??.



5. WHICH TEAM DO YOU SUPPORT ?

So to the surprise of many who found out, I am actually a Chelsea fan. I've always supported Chelsea, but when it comes to collecting I was only going to collect Griezmann. There was no Chelsea player at the time that I had the same love for as Griezmann so outside of the hobby I am a Chelsea fan. Within the hobby I am a Chelsea and Griezmann fan.

6. NAME YOUR FAVOURITE INSTAGRAM, TIK TOK AND X(TWITTER) ACCOUNTS, BESIDES YOURS !

My goodness where do I even start. THERE ARE SO MANY!! I gotta shoutout first MGC and MGC Live. As someone who works at MGC and getting to work within my own hobby, it's as good as it can get. Not many people turn their hobby into a job, but MGC gave me that opportunity and I couldn't be more thankful.
Also gotta shout out Grizicards. The man who I collect collects cards himself which is a MASSIVE W!
YouTuber wise, Dan at Sportscardsuk is someone who's videos I always watch. His content is very good and a great watch. Shoutout you Dan you legend!!
Now for Instagram, I may annoy some people cause there's so many I want to shoutout. I've got to shoutout the fellow Griezmann collectors: dean.collects, haoyut9, amescollects, flfootycards, 314cards, sportscardscenter, and all the amazing Grizi collectors.
I've got some great friends in the hobby that I talk to on a daily basis such as all the boys at fcbreaks: Bart, Degen, Cardunit, Antman and TCC. Got some other absolute legends like gorilla.breaks, footycollector_hk, hwc_trading_cards, all of the other boys in the mod squad, ws.stickers and all of the community there, Cards Maate, Neds cards, the_card_hub13.

I could go in and on and on naming all the people who have not only helped me, but supported me in every step of the way of my journey. I love every one of you and I hope you don't get too annoyed that I may of missed your name ??.

7. HOW DO YOU SEE THE FUTURE OF THE "HOBBY" ?

You know what, the future of the hobby I can only see going up and up. You have all of these scalpers trying to turn a profit on the sealed product, which no one likes let's be hones, but I think the core of the hobby is genuine and full of amazing people.
I named some of the amazing people in the hobby already, but having collectors keep collecting what they love is what can help it grow. We all collect what we love and spend our money on it, but I think showing it off and building an audience of like minded people who love to collect will keep the hobby strong and hopefully grow it even further than it currently is.



8. DID YOU EVER TAKE PART IN ANY FOOTBALL STICKERS/CARDS FAIR ? IF YES, WHICH ONE ? DO YOU HAVE A FAIR YOU REALLY WANT TO GO TO ?

Oh my I have been to my fair share of card shows. Some of my favourites being London, Sports card social and Dublin.. It's not only a great place to get some more cards for your collection, but it's such a great place to network and see friends you have made along the way that you don't get to see all that often.
One of my favourite parts of card shows isn't the card show itself, but it's the social aspect of the shows. Going out afterwards with some of your hobby friends, having a few drinks, making some deals and also some great memories. That is what the hobby is about. I would not change that FOR THE WORLD!

9. WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE BRAND (PANINI/TOPPS/UPPER DECK/ETC.) ? AND COLLECTION ?

I am not too picky when it comes to brands and collecting. I see a Griezmann, I buy a Griezmann ??. I would say tho that I am big fans of Topps and Panini. I know that is the obvious answer, but they do create the best products hands down. Some of my holy grails of my collection are Topps and Panini.
Don't get me wrong, Leaf and Futera are two brands that I respect what they're creating and love their designs, but for me Topps and panini are the clear front runners.

10. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF STICKERSONE.COM ?

Well first of all, thank you very much for giving me the time and opportunity to do this interview/answer these questions. I absolutely love that you guy reach out to people on Instagram or where you see something cool and get to know them a bit more. You're giving a platform to people who are amazing in the hobby to get their thoughts and also get to know a bit about them behind the collecting side.
